I had this film in my Netflix queue for almost a month. It took forever to arrive and when it did, I immediately popped it in my DVD player. My boyfriend and I sat unmoved for an hour and a half-glued to the set. In the beginning I thought, 'Oh this is just going to tell me what I already know-eat organic, our soil is depleted, Genetically Modified foods no good, etc.' But what I got was a little more than that. They discussed the importance of vitamins. About 15 minutes prior to the movie I was trying to convince my boyfriend to down some vitamin C for his on-coming cold. "I heard it's not necessary to take Vitamins" , he said. We landed on the part of the movie that said, "Your food does not provide you with enough nutrients and therefore supplementation is indeed necessary". He wasn't happy with the 'I told you so' look I shot him.
When people start to realize unnecessary prescription pill popping the pharmaceutical companies are pushing and that by eating organically grown, non-GMO, no pesticides added, we will be on our way to a disease free life. The film discuss the benefits of vitamins to the point that by the end of the movie I was looking for naturopathic hospitals that would take my grandmother in that has stage 4 cancer to give her a Vitamin C IV. It's quite remarkable what high doses of Vitamin C does for cancer patients.
The bottom line is this, our bodies have the ability to heal itself if given the right tools. When we were created, we were created without the need for cholesterol medicine! If you take nothing else away from the film, Food Matters, take that.
