I'm pretty sure I've told everyone on the planet what ailments I have but in case you are the lucky soul-my immune system sucks! I have hormone, thyroid and insulin issues. Which makes me not too fun to be around all the time. The worse time to be around me is right when I think I'm getting sick. Because I have a weak immune system, I am 10 times more likely to catch a headache nevermind what others are sneezing. Even my positive thinking and deep breathing exercises don't always help.
Last week my dearheart was seriously ill. He was coughing so hard I thought he picked up smoking 5 packs of cigarettes a day. All my studying pathologies and all I could think of to give him was Vitamin C but I wasn't sure the dosage.
Cut to the end of his respiratory infection, no more sore throat, no more cough-finally! The next morning I wake up tired, body aches but I muddle through the day. After Pathology class I come home and it was as if I hit a brick wall. I was out. Took a hard nap and woke up feeling that "ick" feeling. Sore throat, body aches, chills-crap! I remembered what I had heard on a radio show oddly enough about digestion. I can't remember the exact recommendation and I don't want to mislead anyone but, the doctor said if you feel a cold coming on, within the first 15 minutes, up your Vitamin C up to 10,000 (over time) which is the bowel tolerance dose. (If your bowel can handle more than 10,000mg's then cool). So I tried 2,000mg every hour until I went to bed. Woke up still a little achy but not enough for me not to clean the house. I kept taking the same dose all day. By the end of the day I was tired again but no massive cough yet. Kept taking 2,000mg every hour until bed. I woke up Monday morning w/no symptoms. I keep taking a maintenence dose now of 3 x's a day.
Just prior to the sicky-close-call, I watched the movie, Food Matters, and they discussed the benefits of C for cancer patients (Ha....C... for Cancer....interesting!). Below is a quick video showing cancer patients taking High Dose Vitamin C IV instead of chemotherapy or radiation. I hope this information helps just one person. Wouldn't it be something if this was all we needed to do?
